At Sports Life Work we provide treatments for everyone from elite athletes to office workers and fun runners.
Our aim is to help all of our clients keep moving and able to do the things they want, whether that’s at work, in day-to-day life, or in their chosen sport. We always work towards getting our clients fully functioning.
Whether you’re suffering from repetitive strain injury caused by working at a computer, been on the receiving end of a crunching tackle, popped your achilles tendon or are recovering from surgery, we’ve got a therapy or treatment for you.
We can even help you avoid injury. If you’re in training, preparing for an event or just want to reduce the chance of hurting your body, we offer pre-habilitation treatments and training schedule reviews.
If you’ve taken a bad knock or got a persistent niggle, our injury assessment service will check you over fully, and our rehabilitation treatments and sports massage will help you recover and get back to active living.
Our clients often tell us about their injury immediately, but for us, it’s important to see the whole picture - the cause might not be what you think. To help us work out what treatment will be best for your needs, our injury assessment sessions aim to find out what’s going on in your life or your sport. In these sessions we offer a whole body assessment and ask lots of questions. Everything from how you walk to your current state of mind can tell us a lot about how to get you moving properly again.
• Massage - we offer different massage techniques according to your injury, and provide both sports and lymphatic drainage massage
• Exercise planning - we’ll work with you to design an exercise routine to support your recovery, and we’ll review your progress regularly
• Strapping and taping - we use zinc oxide, kinesio and compression taping to aid participation, performance and recovery. Taping can be used to protect the joints, limit movement or support the muscles to work better or allow for relative resting whilst still keeping you moving
Our sports massage is designed to have long-lasting therapeutic effects. Using all of our experience, our massage techniques aim to loosen everything off, and smooth out all those knots, niggles and tight bits. We use sports massage to aid recovery but also to sort minor muscular problems before they become major.
With our injury prevention sessions (a series of 1 hour assessments and treatments), we take a big picture approach, which is particularly for elite or high performance sportspeople, or those who do sport regularly. As well as assessing your whole body we’ll want to know what might be causing wee niggles - it might be something as simple as a new mattress or a change in routine. We’ll work through a series of exercises with you watching how you move and behave, applying a bio-mechanical analysis to make recommendations for change and to help prevent injury.
Members and users of SLW gym facilities have priority access to our injury clinic for rehab, prehab and injury treatments.

Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
